Sinter-Oil® self-lubricating bronze bushings are manufactured from sintered bronze powder. The composition of this bronze is 90% copper and 10% tin, because this is the composition that presents the best antifriction characteristics of all possible alloys made of bronze.
After sintering, they are immersed in a hot oil bath, incorporating this into the inner porous structure of the bearing. The standard oil with which the bearings are impregnated is mineral origin and in accordance with ISO 100 designations, with a maximum operating temperature of 100 ºC and a viscosity at 50 ºC of 5.7-8.3 ºE.
The corrosion resistance of Sinter-Oil® bushings comes determined in turn by the corrosion resistance of the materials that compose it. The bronze presents a high corrosion resistance against the main non-oxidizing acids, water and others substances. Regarding the oil that is incorporated in the bushings, you only have to pay attention to the possible solvents that could incorporate the application, as they sooner or later will remove the lubricant.
The temperature limits for use range from -20 ºC to 100 ºC. Values at the extremes could be modify by injecting a different oil than the generally used and even adding additives such as molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) under special manufacturing.
