Sintred bronze rods and hollow bars for machining Sinter-Oil®

sinteroil sinteroil

Materials

The bars for SINTER-OIL® machining are manufactured from sintered bronze powder. Its interior structure is totally porous, which will allow it to incorporate oil inside.

Machining

The machining of self-lubricating bars and cored bars is very similar to the light alloy metals. To avoid the pore sealing it is suggested to use tungsten carbide tools S1, S2 or H1. Grinding is not advisable.

These are the recommended values for machining:

Roughing

Cutting speed 180/200 m/mm
Feed rate 0,1 - 0,2 mm/rev
Depth of cut 1 mm

Finishing

Cutting speed 140/200 m/mm
Feed rate 0,1 mm/rev max.
Depth of cut 0,1 - 0,4 mm

Oil reimpregnation

The standard oil with which the bars are impregnated is of mineral origin and conforms to ISO 100 designations, with a maximum operating temperature of 100 ºC and a viscosity at 50 ºC of 5.7-8.3 ºE. Part of this oil is lost due to tool friction during machining. After machining the bars must be reimpregnated in oil to guarantee self-lubrication.

After machining, immerse the parts in an oil bath of the same specification as that used for impregnate it at a temperature of 80 ºC for one hour and let it cool in the same oil.

IBINSA offers a bar relubrication service at no additional cost to the client.
