Materials

Manufactured from bands of a three-layer composite material:

  • PTFE + fibers 0.01 to 0.03 mm thick. This is the contact surface between the shaft and the bearing. PTFE is known for its excellent antifriction and antiwear characteristics. The specific fibers improve the mechanical properties of the material.
  • Sintered bronze. Facilitates the bonding of the PTFE + bisulfide layer with the next layer. In later stages of rolling, it combines with the PTFE, adding the properties of bronze to the contact surface, providing good thermal conductivity that allows the heat generated by friction to be dissipated.
  • Low-carbon steel. This is the structural part of the bearing that gives it and maintains its shape. It is externally coated with a layer of tin for surface protection, significantly preventing bearing corrosion. As is known, this surface treatment obtained by electrolytic precipitation colors the surface with a silver tone.

Corrosion Resistance

The corrosion resistance of the Series U bearings is not among the highest due to the low-carbon steel they are made of. However, as previously mentioned, it is enhanced by the surface tinning. Greases and seals can further prevent corrosion by isolating it from the external environment. This bearing is suitable for sealed environments or those where the atmosphere is dry and clean.

For greater corrosion resistance, bearings from the Series U-B or Series SB can be used, respecting the dimensions and tolerances of all measurements. For extreme corrosion resistance, consider the bushings of the Series U-I.

Temperature

The operational limits at constant regime range from -200 ºC to 280 ºC.
